What Are You
Looking For?

We all have multiple forms of identification and the picture each paints of us can vary hugely. From driver's licences to social media bios we are constantly asked to define our identity. This project aims to question what aspects of our identity truly defines us.

Woven Identities

Paper Weavings and Screen Prints

Paper Weavings woven from aspects of out identity; address, age, appearance, beliefs, ethnicity, interests, occupation, personality, sexuality and social status. These weavings visualise my research findings, the number of sections of each word used in the weavings were determined by survey results. The outcome demonstrates how various aspects are interwoven to form our identity. Even the more visible words are interrupted and confused by lesser aspects. Similar to a human's personality; there are many different threads that form the whole.

Process Book

Created to document my creative process and graphic experiments whilst exploring the theme of identity, from research findings and initial concepts through to artwork and the final outcome.

Collecting Objects

Two hundred people were asked one question. 'If you were an object what would you be?' Responses hint at how people wished to be perceived, others suggested deeper thoughts and feelings. Some appeared almost temporary, reflecting current stages in people's lives. Whatever the type of response, each told a story which needed to be heard. People's Pages is the product of this.
